At our recent “Networking Social | Social Networking” Event on Tuesday night, I was so happy to hand out 2 $1,500 checks to two very worthy women’s scholarship organizations from some of the proceeds we made from our very successful “Tech Boot Camps”; Cape Cod 2009 and Boston/South Shore 2009.

The recipients are the American Business Women’s Association Cape Cod Chapter (ABWA Cape Cod) and the South Shore Women’s Business Network Educational Foundation (SSWBN Ed. Fund).  Both were in attendance at last Tuesday’s events and both ladies who serve as their organization’s president seemed quite shocked, but very excited. That was our intention!

See more pictures of the evening here!

When I started Geek Girl Camp, it was and will always be about education, becoming empowered, giving back and paying it forward. We are not a major technology conference or company. We are volunteers doing something we believe in.

We also depend upon the kindness of strangers and friends for sponsorship, advertising, buying our gear and supporting our cause so we can have more boot camps all over the US (and maybe elsewhere?!) and help to educate and empower the ladies in your community who have been left behind by technology, want to learn more and get current on tech, or just want to attend a phenomenal event!

If you want Geek Girl Boot Camps in your neck of the woods (and you’re willing to help out!) and there is a women’s scholarship organization we can perhaps partner with, please email me, or get me on Twitter at @GeekGirlCamp – I love to talk!

And thank you to everyone who helps to make these events possible!
