We need a Theme Song!
We are looking for a Theme Song that you think BEST exemplifies Geek Girls!
Will it be an ’80’s cover band song?
Will it be a rap by Missy MisDemeanor?
Will it be some techno-punk?
Or will it be some Patsy Cline or other throw-back 1950’s tune?
OR – Will someone DARE to even write their own lyrics?
We are keeping this contest on until next Friday, until that time we will accept any and all Theme Song suggestions.
Winner receives a beautifully designed and highly sought-after, collector’s item Geek Girl hat (in white or black).
So as they say….BRING ON THE FUNK!
MUST POST BELOW to be considered – open to Geek Girls and Geek Dudes.
BONUS POINTS: if you videotape yourself and submit it, we will throw in an awesome tshirt as well….

Gloria Gaynor–I will survive!

There is always “Girls just wanna have fun” by Cindi Lauper. Another song that would be GREAT is one that was very recently featured on the TV show “Numbers” (it was the episode about the artificial intelligence super computer that supposedly killed its programmer). I cannot access the sites listing music/performers/etc from work but it was a very appropriate song. Very geeky. If you wanted to go the humorous route, you can always use “Techno Nerd Boy” which is a filk song I believe I still have in my collection… will try to find it and “video” it to you if my own nerdiness can stretch that far
FOUND IT! Here is a link to listen to it: “The Geeks were Right” by The Faint: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CN5O8W/ref... AWESOME SONG
It just has to be “Independent Women” by Destiny's Child…
Black Magic Woman
Rock Star – Pink…
or Superwoman – Alicia Keys

I have two songs that I cannot decide between – both sung by a woman who is never taken seriously enough yet has a phenomenal voice. I'm talking about Cyndi Lauper and the song are “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “She Bop”. Either is an excellent choice!
I think I saw someone post this somewhere else (was it you Paula?) but my vote is- “Suddenly I See” by KT Tunstall. The song is fun, catchy and the lyrics are great! Here they are ….
Her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me (suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
I feel like walking the world
Like walking the world
You can hear she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
She fills up every corner like she's born in black and white
Makes you feel warmer when you're trying to remember
What you heard
She likes to leave you hanging on a word
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me (suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
And she's taller than most
And she's looking at me
I can see her eyes looking from a page in a magazine
Oh she makes me feel like I could be a tower
A big strong tower, yeah
The power to be
The power to give
The power to see
Yea Yea
(Suddenly I see)
She got the power to be
The power to give
The power to see
Yea Yea
(Suddenly I see)
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me (Suddenly I see)

Perfectly exemplifies the geek: a clever reuse of an existing resource. Besides, it's a great song.
No Doubt–Just a Girl is an obvious, but fucking kick ass choice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ygqew4RxIg8
However, my heart has to be with Kathleen Hanna (because she is a goddess) so Le Tigre's TKO is a definite contender. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMK3OKkmNd0 OR even better, Bikini Kill's 'Rebel Girl' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZxxhxjgnC0
